Anyone who walked the footpath of this street 5 years ago would not see any difference to today.

When I first lived in Sihanoukville in 1994, there were several articles in the Post about Ariston's contract with the government to build a 9-hole golf course on Ochheuteal, a 360 room hotel casino complex on Snake Island and a cable car that would run from the mainland to the island. (They were also supposed to rebuild the airport and the power station as well.) It was the talk of the town for a couple years, the only remaining reminder of it being the closed off part of Ochheuteal - which the government and Ariston closed in late 96 or so to build the golf course. Behold 19 years of work. Oh, and a couple of the smaller buildings at the airport the little Ream park office opposite airport. Those were also build by Ariston as the first step in turning the Sihanoukville airport into an international quality facility by 1998.

What's the walkway? Are they making it a pedestrian only street? Or just clearing all the crap off the sidewalks, or something else?

Just what I was thinking - more pigs with wings...
Funny thing though - if I remember rightly, about 5 years ago the authorities went along St 130 drawing lines along the middle of the pavement . At the time we thought it was just another shakedown to get businesse to pay for their outdoor seating spaces etc. But who knows, maybe they were really planning on doing something ? That board with all the stamps looks quite official. (But then it got stuck in the too hard box, because...)

Before it was turned into a one way street the city repaved the pavements, repainted the road, planted numerous trees and added a central reservation to the stretch between Norodom and psar thmei.

I guess Duncan isn't the sharpest knife in the draw since he managed to miss all of these changes.

That's the sort of comment usually made by the smallest bent teaspoon in the draw. Why would I post an article to bring to everyone's attention if I had not noticed those changes.?
