Sending a package to Cambodia

What's the best way to receive mail in Cambodia? (reasonably expensive goods) DHL? Fed-ex? How long should it take? and how safe is it? Do I get it sent to my workplace or apartment? Any horror stories, problems or advice?

I used to get things delivered through regular post to my friend's restaurant. Never had a problem.
If I ordered anything over $100 I'd probably use DHL, having used them before in other poor countries, I've never had a problem... and would think them or FedEx is the best way to go for something you really don't want lost or something you want tracked / insured.

I used the friend's restaurant because the address was easy for the post people to find... was the only reason really.

For packages it doesn't matter what address you send it to, the most important thing is to have a phone number on it. They will call you and ask you to pick it up at the post office so they can charge a small fee (under 10k depending on the weight).
However, if there's anything of real value in it, they may charge you duty on the value (or it may go missing). Personally I would not ship electronics in.

Postal EMS with tracking.(Priority Mail International/EMS) Used it for a few years now with no problem. You can track it online from country of origin and Cambodia postal site. It helps to have a Cambodia PO box or a friend with one.

Really? It's an i phone (not new). What if I wrote on there that it's something else like a charger? Will it be sent to the post office although it's courier?

i understand EMS has their own window, with their own people manning it, so it's less likely to vanish.

I've never had electronics shipped in, but I have heard that the scan packages to search for them so they can charge duty. I don't know if this is true or not, but the duty they charge is ridiculously high.

I had a laptop sent to my wife. sent from the US via USPS, arrived and was a $5 fee to get it.

I just checked that seems to only be for sending mail. (?)
