How did it get to this?
He is asking for money for food, but the main reason that Mr Hobbs cannot leave Cambodia is because he has overstayed his visa and has run out of funds.
He didn't see the writing on the wall when his private investigator work dried up and he started running down his money savings? Visa overstay..hmm
He had no exit plan then to fly back to US?

Moreover there is not much need for toilet paper whereas that in SEA WC's are equipped with mini-bidet, so the water spray device will clean your poop you should not have to use toilet paper to wipe yourself clean.
