In her book “Sex, Love, and Money in Cambodia: Professional Girlfriends and Transactional Relationships,” Professor Heidi Hoefinger, who teaches in the Science Department of Berkeley College, in New York, looks at the intimate lives of Cambodian women and the idea of “transactional relationships.” Women are often praised for these relationships, which bring in money to support their families, but also stigmatized for breaking social codes. The first "gift" is always a smartphone, tablet or laptop, so he can talk her into getting naked on cam and some sexchat. If you see a "good" but poor Cambodian girl with an expensive phone, chances are she got it from a foreign man in some such relationship as Hoefinger describes.

Is Cambodia really much different to any other poor country that it warrants a book on it? After all, farm girls all over the LDC's are at it. Seems like she is using Cambodia's reputation as a means to sell her book.
