"Just a heads up, make sure this fella, Sam Wareing, pays cash up front for everything he tries to take from you. And I know youre all great people but try not to sympathise with the sobstories.
Young skinny dude, no shoes (or passport/cash/cards/phone right now, visa coming soon apparently) from Manchester, UK.
Tried to eat and run on Epic Arts and Karma Traders. Friends say hes tried the same Bongs Guesthouse on Koh Rong Samloem too.
Peace!"

Which nation leads the scamming stories of this type?
I seem to recall a lot of Brits, am I wrong?

nah. Ones mentioning praying usually come from the states or Africa. Brits don't pray much and would laugh at anyone who thought prayer was useful in these situationsthat genius wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 5:47 pm Which nation leads the scamming stories of this type?

Theives are theives, no matter their shtick.
On a related note, "give-backpacking" is the new voluntourism.
Bunch of Aussies (I think) operating here with exactly that marketing mantra, scoffing Browns and high fiving each other over their PowerPoints.
For just 2500USD you too can teach in a slum for a fortnight.
Scum bags.

When I was in India 93/94 there was a young couple, backpackers whom would go to restaurant's and eat part of their ordered meal and claim bitterly and not pay. Then move on to another restaurant and try the same. They were both happy with their venture.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I've been very broke in Asia on one occasion, but it never occurred to me to try to cheat or beg. I wonder how these people are in their home counties
