i noticed a reduced choice of coffee on sale in the supermarkets, so checked a few of them
the few cambodian brands dominate shelf space
it seems like imported supplies are dwindling

is there something going on with coffee imports?
i don't think china is a major player, so unlikely to be covid19 related

La Vazza is one of the most common coffee imports here. They might have stopped being exported due to the outbreak in Italy, causing other coffees to sell out?

good thinking, but the supply chain must be several weeks, even months long

Yep. Cyclic supplies. every few month something disappear, althoug it is not as bad as it used to be. i remembere marlborough light disappearing, flora margarine, head and shoulders (except the menthol which takes your skin off). I think they buy what they can when it is cheap

this seems to be broader than the usual continuity fuck-up with individual lines or brands

Yep, on long shelf life products I tend to buy spares just to cover the idiocy. Coffee a good example of just buying a few vacuum packed items & replenishing when stock comes back around.

i made some further casual checks today
one supermarket had not a single imported coffee brand for sale
go look for yourselves, i think there's a broader problem than the usual retardery

have people been panic buying imported coffee (slightly guilty myself tbh)?
a new tariff?
does a single imex have coffee cornered?

Could just be that some of the distributors' containers are delayed, a lot of sailings have been cancelled

Name & shame?

Can confirm that Thai Huot, Bayon, Aeon mini-marts in Toul Kork are all fully stocked. Just be wary of Australians buying toilet paper. :stir:

Coffee shortage is better than what's going on in Seattle.

Toilet paper shortage!

Some fun tweets from the city:

There’s a toilet paper crisis here in Seattle - no joke! TP is sold out EVERYWHERE. pic.twitter.com/OYRd1KOuSd

In Seattle, everyone is panic buying. Toilet paper gone, water gone, otc medications gone, bread gone. Still some ground turkey and chicken liver though. #seattle #coronavirus #washington #COVID19
