Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On February 9, 2020, at 9:30 am, a Yemeni man, EBRAHIM MAHRAM ALI ABDO, passed out in the middle of the departure area of Phnom Penh International Airport.

Many people present at the airport posted a picture of him on social media, and some people made up the story that he was suffering from the coronavirus. The victim was sent to the Royal Rattanak hospital. When he woke up, he went back to the airport, but he had missed his flight.

Mr. Ly Sovan, the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, said after the medical examination, the victim did not have coronavirus, he just fainted. However, the police sent the Yemeni man to be fully examined at Calmette hospital to make sure that he was ok to travel. The ministry spokesman confirmed that the rumors of a coronavirus infection that were circuling on social media were entirely false.

Leave it to the lone westerner to render aid.........

Solid work Khmer's.....you safely lived to eat prohok another day. :thumb:

Not surprising really, when you consider the majority of the populous believe in ghosts, arps, hexes, et al. and have zero understanding about communicable diseases / viruses.

yeah, I noticed that, the white guy tries to help.

It was very nice that they sent him to hospital to see if he was ok to fly, thereby causing him to miss his flight. I wonder who paid for the check up and if he was actually tested for Corona virus (I doubt it - just say he is fine and all is well)

Not assisted by a very lopsided and uninformed approach to teaching kids (the next generation of believers) about cleanliness.

Younger daughter comes home with face mask attached, and it takes another 30minutes to coax it from her. Lad has not been issued a mask. Neither has EVER been instructed about basic hygiene, in the current climate- washing hands, etc, at school. Breed ignorance, and there is always room for fear, and superstitions which are part of tradition.

Shouldn't it be your responsibility to instruct your kids on hygiene? Or am I missing something?
