We’re thinking of taking a trip to Koh Rong during my next trip over. Neither of us has been there. I’d normally pitch up in Kep for a few days, but this idea has popped up.

I’m hoping for some (clean) suggestions of a comfortable place to stay, things to do/see, from folk who have been.
4 adults, 3 young kids, to help elicit appropriate suggestions.

I made the mistake of getting off in Koh Rong Samloem when the next stop was Koh Rong.
Reasonably boring is my opinion but that maybe what you want.

Well there used to be an ironic phrase we used "What could go wrong in Koh Rong" . It wasn't based on nothing.

I quite like it there.

Coconut beach was popular a couple of years ago, a bit pricier but a bit classier, not in the main village. There's the road now and there was some kind of pub street being built on the hill behind so facilities are nearby and there's an overland route that's not flashback to Nam going to Koh Touch if needed. KRS is the really quiet one if you like Robinson Crusoe shit. At this time of year all the shit washes up on Sok San beach so that side maybe not so nice, although it is the sunset side and the big Royal resort is open now. Matter of taste, really. If you want really exclusive and have money to burn the private resort has its own boat and things, never been but it's popular with the Chinese as they get bussed to the private dock and straight over, avoiding the outside world.

Quiet and serene, Basic is fine. I’ll pass on hob-nobbing with the PRC advance army. It’s really a family relaxed gig- my mother meeting her grandson for the first time, etc.
As long as there’s some good basic food, and clean, away from the braying madness of the Chinese.

It's all pretty quiet, Koh Touch village has a curfew and that and the death of Shv pretty much killed off half of the place. Mostly day-trippers now. Can't comment on the food, it always was a bit hit and miss in KT, even before the cataclysm that was 2016/17's tourist season.

Sounds like 3days should be enough, then. Afterwards, a quick trip to Kep for crab, and we'll be good to go.

You need to time your arrival at serendipity dock in order to avoid spending the night in Sihanoukville.
Koh Rong Sanloem was great ...not sure if newish chinese casino is still mucking it up..koh rong would be nice.
You could just go to Kep and go out to Koh Tonsay.
I went there 3 times in 2018 and you would not have to take those kids from Koh Rong back to Sihanoukville to Kep.
Just a thought.
Where are you flying into PP?

Check out Lazy Beach on Koh Rong Sanloem. Haven't been there for years, and everything has changed, but I heard it's still chill. Very quiet with bungalows on a private beach.
