Late meal, New Tears Eve

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Late meal, New Tears Eve

Post by OldOldGuy »

A few years ago we ate at the old La Patate, so so steak, but lots of it, and their terrific fries. Under $30. Then, at about 11 pm down to riverside for all the excitement, haha.

Last year was looking at the Wat Phnom fireworks from our hotel room, terrific glass so no sound.

Where the heck can we go this year, less than $50 max for two, before drinks, within 3 or 5 blocks of the river between Brown Coffee Riverside and the Pink Elephant, but someplace delicious and fun?

18 Restaurant is close to Riverside and the market. Food is amazing and excellent value for money. Will totally be inside your budget and close to Riverside so everything in walking distance. For $50, you can get full meal including drinks.

La Patate's half chicken, fries, and salad was one of the better late night eats until it changed hands a couple years ago
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

This.

I'm pretty sure that late at night there will still be some noodle carts selling yummy meals to us old age pensioners.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Google just now tells me 18 Rick Reay is closed. Hmmmm.

What about a Chinese place, around the big market say, St 128 (I think)? Anybody rate Sam Woo/Sam Doo? I read they were open late.

Wow..
18 Rick Reay...was my go to place.
What a shock.
I hated the night market crap.
I used to take some lady friends there and let them teach me the menu.
Just another reason not to go to PP.
You could pack a picnic basket and find a good place to watch.
