Where to Live?
Where to Live?
With an ever growing membership of CEO, now is a good time to ask, where folk live and the pros and cons of living there. I would be very interested, as I am soon to move out to Cambodia and it would really help make an informed choice, based on your real life experience, if that is OK
Thanks
Thanks

SR? Snooky? I hate small isolated tourist towns meself - something insincere and artificial about them in general...
PP - in the rectangle bordered by the riverside - Norodom - the Palace and Post Office. Aside from the riverside itself this area is 99% local (albeit there are some Barangs, but not many residents, so who really gives a fuck - you're one too) and you can walk to most everything. Afternoon strolls on the riverside, restaurants, bars, theaters, CD/book shops, markets, cultural venues are close by - in fact, nothing is that far away that you wold need on a daily basis. Plus the best air quality in city by a huge degree because of the river border.
If your lucky enough not to work or work close by you can avoid most all the traffic nightmares in the city. Anywhere far from the riverside is a nightmare if you want any kind of a social life. I've been here for many years now and would personally not consider any other area.

Re: Where to Live?
I have a couple of areas in mind, brothers, but what I really need is a super cool deck, with a good amount of space, an unobstructed view of the City, a BBQ, several cases of Beer Lao at 35 degrees Fahrenheit, and I'm fine.

It's all based on your value system obviously...for me:
a) location - driving little as possible
b) the best air quality
c) lots of services close by
d) Colonial style flat (updated)
e) safe area & friendly neighbors
d) lots of space and light
f) a place nearby to walk daily (riverside)
Luckily...I have all the above and am begging the owner to sell...we shall see...

Re: Where to Live?
I didn't get that impression about the place. I thought it would be irritating living there. I thought about living there, but only if I was going to learn more about the ruins. Specifically, what was nice about the place?EdinWigan wrote:nightmare.believer wrote:Why Siem Reap? Why?EdinWigan wrote:I am currently thinking Siem Reap, thoughts?
