South Korea, the Philippines and Cambodia had the majority of children who were physically inactive and engaged in physical activity for less than an hour a day, the World Health Organization study revealed

In the UK, 79.9 percent of teenagers & # 39; do insufficient physical activity & # 39 ;, the report said.

Meanwhile, the US surpassed almost every country on Earth with only 72 percent of children inactive – only higher than Bangladesh, Slovakia and Ireland.

Completely misleading headline. Should be something like least outdoor playtime.

South Korean kids work hard. No even close to lazy. Saw a program on Netflix about it. Wake up early morning to school that finishes in the afternoon then cram school until around 10 PM or so. After dinner and homework, sleep at around 1-2 am. Repeat daily to get ahead. In terms of productive study time, they are tops.

Compared to them. American kids are beyond lazy.

Average Khmer kid in public school doesn’t even have a chance.

Unfortunately this also has the impact of creating automatons bereft of any personality or purpose. Whilst I wouldn't deny that even Singaporean & Malaysian education systems are brutally competitive on the number of hours crammed, that isn't necessarily good to create well balanced adults. Also productivity dwindles with fatigue, they're turning up, doing the numbers, but as far as productivity goes, I'm not so convinced generally - of course there are always exceptions.

And then an American adult shoots 100 people in one sitting. Sorry, carry on - automatons it is!

In this case, I agree with NKOTB that most South Korean kids are not allowed to be lazy. There is a difference between kids being lazy, and not getting enough physical exercise because they are doing schoolwork 10 hours a day.

Not sure how they measured the laziness factor, and I wonder how the questions were phrased - eg: Do you belong to a sports club or a gym where you spend more than 1 hour a week?

And what to make of all those fat lazy slobs of teenagers living in Sudan, East-Timor, and Zambia ?
Did this study take into account all the teenagers that work full-time in developing countries ? Or does work not count as physical activity ?

The article I read elsewhere never mentioned the word "lazy", only teenagers with the least time spent doing physical activities of any sort.

I agree with Spigzy: children spending 100-hour weeks at school or studying is not something I want my kids to aspire to. I have a Khmer friend whose teenage boy has 18-hour days, 7 days a week. Workers have stormed the barricades for less.
