employment letter" not been notarized by the Embassy

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

employment letter" not been notarized by the Embassy

Post by Fredi25 »

You will need to present the following to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

1. "Application for foreigner to marry Khmer citizen" (provided by MoFAIC)
2. Certificate of non-impediment/single status/divorce certificate (if applicable)/ex-spouses death certificate (if applicable)
3. Criminal record check from your country of citizenship
4. Passport with valid E type (Ordinary MEEV) visa, minimum 6 months validity
5. Letter of employment/proof of salary minimum $2500USD p/m (Male only). Work permit/work book/business license if employed in Cambodia.
6. Letter from your Embassy - permission/consent to marry
7. Pre-nuptial Medical certificate from Calmette Hospital (no older than 3 months)
8. 2x passport photos

NOTE: Foreign males must be under 50 years old to legally marry a Cambodian citizen in Cambodia.

All above documents must be notarised/certified from your nearest Embassy except 1,6 and 7.

5. Problem with "2500 us employment letter" been notarized
It needs to be certified/notarized by the Embassy

in that case if my employment letter" not been notarized by the Embassy
I have a employment letter without any confirmation ?

what is going to happen ?

anyone who has experience wirh this ?

First you need to find out if your embassy will notarise the document. Some will send you to a local notary.
Notaries are approved by the relevant ministry so if you use one of them it should be ok. It depoemnds which ministry you are submitting the papers to. My understanding was it only has to be notarised by your embassy if your income is form abroad, if you work for a Cambodian firm it should not be necessary, but if you own a business in Europe or are employed by a foreign company outside Cambodia then you may need that verified somehow as the cambodians cannot check your status.
