The Bright Side

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Some positive things:
The Pandas are finally getting some, presumably doing it bear style.
"After 10 years of trying, giant pandas finally mate during coronavirus lockdown at Hong Kong zoo"
https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-04- ... g/12136832

More purty flowers.
"A plant charity is predicting a boost for wild flowers because some councils have stopped mowing verges and parks during the Covid-19 crisis."
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-52215273

Global emissions are way down.
"In China alone, the economic slowdown has kept 200 megatons of CO2 out of the atmosphere"
https://www.wired.com/story/coronavirus-emissions/

Home cooking, and especially baking are way up. Positive implications of this include more jobs and possibly a healthier diet.
"BBC Food has seen record traffic since the start of the lockdown, including a 540% increase to its banana bread recipe - the site's most popular recipe at the moment."

People are reading more, here's a Quarantine Book Calculator.
"Our calculator is here to help you plan your reading time. Not only will you find out how many books you can read during the quarantine, but also get a recommendations list drawn randomly from a collection of the 400 best books of all time."

"People in India can see the Himalayas for the first time in 'decades,' as the lockdown eases air pollution"
https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/ ... index.html

Dogs are no longer "livestock" in China, this follows on the heels of some food law amendments.
""As far as dogs are concerned, along with the progress of human civilisation and the public concern and love for animal protection, dogs have been specialised to become companion animals, and internationally are not considered to be livestock, and they will not be regulated as livestock in China," the ministry said in a statement."

As a rule, doom and gloom sell better - this "bright side" thread didn't get many takers: general-chatter/cambodia-the-bright-side-t23744.html
We'll see.

I don't have a habit.

Pity the poor flockers that do. Alcohol or dope.
Maybe it will be the last detox for some and they can step back out into the Spring-back full of life and new inspiration when it comes.
Hang in if you are hanging out.
At least you are not out there on the mean streets right now - and remember, there is always a springtime on offer.

(sorry Clem, that was the best i could come up with right now)

I've noticed more women online around my dating sites. My increased alcoholism however negates their increased volume it seems.
