Kampong Cham

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Kampong Cham

Post by frank lee bent »

Who lives there in town?

Got a supermarket?

Costs for a shophouse to rent in a location for a cafe?

Any expats?

Overrun by Chinese?

Reliable power?

Are there any English teachers to enable the O.P. to construct a grammatically correct sentence? :D

As I understand it the purpose of grammar is "to help ensure clarity of communication".
What's unclear about the 6 questions above?

Frank, as you probably know I don't live in KC proper, but nearby and visit the city weekly. There are cafés all along the riverfront and the rents are outrageous. Furthermore they are primarily dilapidated warehouses, not shop houses. Another couple of minuses; the city is seen primarily as as one day. transit point. As for expats there are several Christian NGOs, including a large Morman faction.

I don't know if you remember Tanya who died a few years back, but she rented a shop house but couldn't make a go out of it and moved on. She had excellent food, especially German and reasonably priced beer.

As for the Chinese, they are mostly 3rd&4th generation, but businesses from the PRC have been buying up land just outside of the city.

Supermarkets? Small and overpriced. Tanya shoped in PP as I am forced to do. Power is sketchy during storms.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I was in KC a year or two ago i cant remember exactly, Seems like a friendly enough place, Locals are closed compared to Other places, Mostly you will feel like an outsider there without Khmer langaugae skills.
