Fake Lawyer charged with Fraud

Fake Lawyer charged with Fraud

Phnom Penh Municipal Court today charged a 32-year-old man with fraud for allegedly creating a Facebook account and posing as a member of Samdach Techo’s Legal Team and for attempting to extort money.



The court spokesman Kuch Kimlong on Friday said deputy prosecutor Seng Heang has identified the man as Nuon Va and he was sent to the court on Thursday.

Mr Kimlong said the anti-cyber crime department’s police arrested Mr Va on Tuesday, following a complaint lodged by lawyer Chao Bun Huon, who is a member of Samdach Techo ‘s legal team.



According to a police report, Mr Va has recently created a Facebook account using name and photos of lawyer Bun Huon to extort money from many people.

Lawyer Kim Huon said he filed a complaint to the Interior Ministry on August 7.
