Cambodians asking personal questions

Cambodians seem to ask a lot of personal questions that we in the Western world would find “impolite.” A Cambodian you've just met may ask you "How much does your hotel room cost per night?" "What did you pay for your plane ticket?" "Are you having sex with that woman you’re with?” etc.
A Cambodian you've known a while may say "Nice to see you again. Why are you so fat now?"
They do this to each other too. If a Cambodian woman checks into a hotel with a Western husband or boyfriend, the staff may ask her "Are you a hooker?" or “Do you have sex with that guy on your period?” (OK, I made that last one up).
Have you ever been asked a humorous or surprising personal question by a Cambodian? Are Cambodians “just curious” or are they rude?
Are personal questions exclusively asked by low class Khmers like tuk tuk drivers, with high class Cambodians acting with such discretion and decorum that they don't ask questions like this?
