The Cricket Association of Cambodia (CAC) has donated 6,500 N95 masks

Post by Doc67 »

Did you even know they existed? Anyway, as they are going nowhere anytime soon they gifted 6500 masks to whoever would take them

Manish Sharma, CEO of CAC, handed over the donation to officials of Cambodian SEA Games organizing Committee (CAMSOC) led by Tourism Minister Thong Khon.

These masks are 5000riel for 10, and that's retail in my local pharmacy. The wholesale cost is likely half that.

That's about $400 in total yet, amazingly, this donation gets you:

Tourism Minister Thong Khon, plus

Vath Chamroeun, secretary-general of CAMSOC plus

A Certificate of Appreciation AND

An article in the Khmer Times where you give them your prepared text and they dutifully print it for you.

All this for about $400. That's some bang for your buck!

I am seriously thinking of suggesting that Harry's buy 5 boxes of masks and arrange the same donation to the Minister of Tourism, to be given to tourists at the airport, when they eventually let them back in.

“This will help us a lot,” said Khon as he handed a Certificate of Appreciation to Sharma and other representatives of CAC. Sharma was accompanied to the event by several cricket players.

The CAC players and officials pooled their resources together in order to buy the masks, according to Sharma.
They must of dug deep...

Idly thinking...
All joking aside, I wonder if there might be some mileage in that? Expat businesses and certain expats/foreigners banding together, and making some donation? Wouldn’t it be great if the likes of you and I were part of the foreigner community making a contribution, while the Chinese Unmentionable National Tourists were only making the crime pages?!
