Things I Won't Do in Cambodia Again
My first trip to Cambodia in 2001 (back a few times since) was chaotic but a lot of fun. However, these are the things I'm sure I won't do again.
1. Entering Cambodia I won't overstay my Thai visa and get scewed at the border to be relieved of most of my cash.
2. Getting completely wasted in the afternoons with Roddy in his Sihanoukville guesthouse as he told crazy stories from his chair which had a microphone attached so could bellow baayyoon to his staff notifying them his drink was empty. The guy was completely mad as I saw it.
3. Standing at the front of a bus asking for $10 dollars from tourists to get me to Phnom Penh and something to eat.
4. Being grilled by my embassy as to why they should give me $50 dollars to get back to Trat to use the ATM.
5. Buying 100ml glass viles of ketamine for a dollar and sticking it up my arm in a flea pit of a room above Walkabout being attended to by a cute Vietnamese girl. She really did look after me, for weeks.
6. Turn down the chance to travel on with the person who could have been "the one'.
7. Sit overlooking Lakeside drinking whiskey at sunset and still being there at sunrise.
8. Leave.
Crazy days.
Any others had experiences that they can be pretty sure they won't be doing again?

There's a perverse freedom in losing one's shit, I've found. It's kind of liberating.dagenham wrote:Damn...I'm frightfully boring - I aint got one story to match these...I must learn to drink more and take fun drugs - get fucked up and lose my shit...sounds so exciting!Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote:My first trip to Cambodia in 2001 (back a few times since) was chaotic but a lot of fun. Selling my blood in Athenes to pay for food and rent, Alfredo's Guest House cost 30 Drachma, about 9 cents/night on the roof.
Problem with selling blood was that I was so anemic after 6 weeks of dysentery, they wouldn't draw the whole litre, just
250 ml, and made $1.25 instead of $5.00
Saved by the USA Navy when I went onboard the USS Independence Aircraft Carrier to fix some 8-Track tape players and Amps
for some sailors in exchange for food. Great food btw. Went back 4 days. Long Hippie Hair w/ pony tail in the Navy. haha
My weight before Asia was 165 lbs, it was down to 135 lbs.

See there's a market for that now. Some sort of treatment for IBS or something. Restarting your gut flora or some such.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote:Absolutely, it's not like we stole someone elses shit .
