Now, I know some cooking from different countries ... as in a lot. From grape leaves rolled with a minced beef or pork with a red wine sauce ... to macaroni and cheese. Most ingredients are readily available, and many locations up for sale.

What's your favorite home cooked meal?

Trinidad has a spicy tradition, but other countries are subtle, not withstanding the French.

I know where to get most spices, and this is the climate for great spices, but does anyone know if there is Montreal Seasoning?

Plus, is there any real caviar in this city at all?

Or Herbes de Provence.

there is some company, could be german, as some of the labels have german herb-names, that grows a variety of herbs. its in transparent, smallish round plastic pots, sold at thai huot for example or in SR in angkor market.
they have herbes de provence, when i remember right.
oregano, thyme, basil, parsley, dill... almost everything.

so, where do you buy "all spices"

In PP you can get most things from Thai Hot and Bayon, but I went to Central Market to get Salmon. That is a joke.

Plus, I went to both the above and their salmon is not just frozen, but freezer burned. I am ready to go to De La Gare pharmacy for my salmon and fish eggs.

I was thinking along the lines of Lasagna with Ricotta and 70 30 beef in a red wine base. It is cheap, easy and fast.

Plus the sandwiches here suck, and anything reasonable is off the charts on money.

I have only experienced good pastries.

I've never seen it in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap.......the Russians in Sihanoukville are supposed to sell it.

My recipe tip: Bread, butter, smoked salmon and beluga caviar..........mhhhhhhhh........so simple, so tasty.

What's your definition of "home cooking"........some people think stuff that is not thrown into a microwave oven is home cooking.

Well, home cooking to me is starting with the basics. Rice is abundant, but not my style. I know Romanian, Russian, Indian, Chinese, and let us never, ever forget a fine barbie. I know spices from Asia, the west and others. I don't know where to get chick peas.

I do not understand why Lucky Lucky Supermarket has prices 10X normal. I should start a garden.

Also Thai dishes here taste like shit. I mean, great, you find one that is okay, but really crap. I know Tika Masala. I know how to season without flaming my mouth with those big assed peppers that burn my asshole in the morning and wake up the neighbors I shout so loud!

I already tried to get all the Old Paso, but somebody beat me to it.

Not Asian spices, but European, Mexican and I need Paprika!

Now, I am getting hungry.
