Pink does not mean 'Femininsm': it's used by advertisers among others...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Pink does not mean 'Femininsm': it's used by advertisers among others...

Colours are a very powerful tool in advertising and media because they are so strongly perceived and have deep, subconscious associations, some of which are cultural, others which are civilisational (cross-cultural). If you are unaware of 'the racket' then look for the money. The services of 'colour consultancies' are very expensive. They work with commerical publishers and media organisations. Colour associations run deep in the subconscious - something to remember when you're doing it for the red, white or the blue.

Painting boxes of napalm, cluster bombs or fighter planes pink does not suddenly make them 'Feminist'.

Red is the most attractive colour, apparently.

Unless your name is McCarthy or you watch Fox.

Colours are deeply culture-specific. You learn most association in early infanthood which is one reason why fast food advertising etc is banned in many schools and kindergartens around the world - it makes extensive use of colour and simple designs that stick or reinforce what's already there.

The Swedish flag is blue and yellow for I think, but I don't think there is a Martian flag.
