ATM Withdraws from US Checking Account

So I know that Canadia Bank doesn't charge for using their ATMs. My bank back home ( JP Morgan Chase) charges me a flat $5 no matter what I draw out of Canadia. The problem is that Canadia only lets me draw out a maximum of $400. So I pay that $5 on 400.

I am looking for possible options to withdraw larger amounts of money for around the same fees. Vattanak Bank ATMs are free of charge as well, correct? Maybe they have a higher withdraw limit, as my bank back home would still only charge me $5 fee.

Anyone have any suggestions? Only looking to pull out a bit more than the $400 at Canadia allows, nothing like a $10,000 transfer or anything.

It depends on how long you plan to be here and how much cash you withdraw, but I would suggest doing a written comparison of your options.

A) Cost to take out X a month using Canadia with $5 Chase fees
B) Cost to take out X a month using ANZ/whatever with $5 Chase fees
C) Cost to open a local bank and wire transfer money in from Chase

Depending on your spending patterns, opening a local bank account probably makes sense.

I have a Canadia Bank Account. I never checked on wire transfers with them because with their free ATM use, it was always the cheapest to just got with them. I am just curious if any other ATMs around offer free service like Canadia but with a higher withdraw limit. If not, Canadia at $400 for a total of $5 fee is just fine. Would be nice to be able to pull out like $1000 for 5$ however.

I also bank at Chase in the US. Almost all the time, I use Cathway (formerly known as SBC Bank). They are the red ATMs or green now. You can withdrawl up to 1k per day. U might need to make a request first with Chase. Never had an issue!

You can get $500 fee-free from Mekong Bank ATMs. There's one in the Phnom Penh tower on the west side of Monivong near Sihanouk.

I thought Canadia changed their policy and now charged the $5 fee --- can anyone confirm this?

OP - you could always try an over the counter withdrawal for larger amounts, I recently did one at ANZ and they charged $25, which was cheaper than the $5 for each separate ATM transaction
