I have seen a lot of snakes recently. Many of them live in areas which have now become flooded. When it floods they move to higher ground, which is often where people live.

every rainy season here we see snakes alot,
in the past 3 months had 2 cobras and a rat snake in my yard...

It used to be like that in our village too, but the locals have eaten most if not all of them. Now they have a rat problem and again they are eating their way to a solution.

mice and rats are quite tasty. The one thing my ex did right is know how to grill a good rat or mouse.

I think the comments on Cambodians eating snakes and rats (except large python types) is overstated.
Or totally inaccurate.

My wife and her family prefer snakeheads..escargot..prawns..crab..prahoc..pork..duck..chicken..BUFFALO..eggs...

Yeah..my wife has a great story about starving 25 years ago and catching a rat..
Yeah, my Khmer chums have some interesting drinking snacks.
I was unable to have the New Year beer challenge this year.
The news has locals catching big snakes and saving them from harm...
I saw a lady with a grilled rat on a stick biz a few months ago up north...

is there a red cross in Kow as there is in Thailand ? or do you order from Thailand ?

Remind me to take you for a visit to my in-laws place.
Bro-in-law is quite adept at catching rats with a sling shot. They caught and ate a 4 foot long snake a month or two ago. Frogs and turtles are also eaten if/when available.

Twenty years ago there were lots of Khmer style hangouts opposite the airport selling bbq snake and other oddities. I ate some at the time.
Last time I saw bbq snake, frogs and rat was at Phsar Dumex (not far from Phsar Thmei) about 10 years ago.
