Teacher rotation seems to be the norm at this particular ACE. Longest a teacher been teaching missus’ class is 1 week. Some teach for only 1 session. Quite a few don’t even bother to introduce themselves. Maybe it’s because they won’t be teaching the next class?

Coursework and teaching fluctuates as a result. No overall lesson plan.

This week’s new teacher talks so fast he needs to repeat himself in order to be understood. Kept calling in missus. Maybe because she likes to sit at the front center? This week’s homework? 8 pages of possessives, non-challenging coursework.

Which campus? Maybe I'll get a job there

ACE sucks. Everyone seems to think that studying at ACE will give them a far superior English learning experience than any of the other schools in Cambodia, but that's all a lie. ACE's teachers are just as qualified and just as experienced as at any English school in Cambodia, however, they are paid more, and that's about it.

I believe that minimum qualifications for foreigners who teach at ACE is an undergraduate degree and a teaching certificate, such as a CELTA.

There are English schools which employ barangs without these, for example, BELTEI, Pannasastra, & ELT. Thus, ACE teachers are more qualified than those at many other schools.

For some of them, you are right, their attitude sucks. A crazy Irishman comes to mind.

However, generally speaking, they are better qualified than most schools/unis except the truly international schools, where several teachers may have Master's degrees.

Don't forget the other half of the equation, the students.

If the teachers are poor, management is indeed to blame. I've no idea what the current situation is like but years ago when Helen was the manager the school was second to none. Her replacement was a simpistic bureaucratic politically correct nebbish. The Khmer gentleman who handled records and acquisition of provisions was top notch. It was a mixed bag of talents, but foreign teachers in genera werel worthy of praise. Unfortunately the Khmer teaching staff were of mixed quality.

Have not encountered a native English speaking teacher yet. Must be like unicorns.
