Welcome to Phnom Penh, mainland China

Greeted by some construction workers blasting Chinese opera through the loudspeakers at 6 AM in the morning. Currently 2-3 high rise buildings under construction, so no idea which is the offending building. That and for some unknown reason the loudest of the non stop construction is reserved for late night/early morning. Now construction workers are chanting some slogans. The racket is worse than the provincial roosters!

One of the neighbours added a rooster last week, which upset the established nightly crowing schedule and causes all the local roosters to cock their doodledoos in a cascading pattern, all bloody night long. Not sure who to complain to...

Mate, I'm still trying to work out the relevance of the birds, and the bees... how is THAT useful when teaching a kid about reproduction?

If development is not your thing, you can always go back to your beloved home country where you will not have this "development problem".
Cheers!

Nor is local infrastructure.

High rise apartments but no sewer to connect them to and no fire trucks with ladders high enough to reach past the sixth floor! Luckily, no one is actually living in these things anyway.

Just as long as they don't doodle their cocks.

So development means running the heaviest, loudest machines all night long? Playing Chinese opera music at at a screech level higher than a monk’s chanting? Mass patriotic slogan signing?

Actually didn’t hear the big pile driving machine booming all last night. Nor hours long little red book waving session. Development must’ve pissed off some local okhna and told development to stick to sensible times. Or maybe I’m just losing my marbles.
