Phnom Penh: On June 7 at 5 am, an American expat DAVID, who was in a wheelchair, was dropped off by a tuk tuk driver in front off national museum in Phnom Penh.

According to the local people, the tuk tuk driver told them that he took American man to the American Embassy but he did wan to go, so the tuk tuk driver took DAVID to a restaurant that he always goes to.

The American man asked the woman who was the restaurant owner to find a room to rent for him, but she was unable to help. After that, a Cambodian man who used to know David, the American man, helped to take him to his house at the request of the disabled American man.

It is speculated that nobody wants him to stay on their property, as he is so close to dying, and nobody wants that to happen on their watch.

He has been in PP for at least 4-5 years, used to live at LongLin GH on St.19, looked on his deathbed even back then, but he wasn't in a wheelchair. He used to pay a couple of freelancers from Pontoon to look after him, navigating, negotiating, shopping,etc. Seemed like quite a nice bloke, came across quite naiive, but obviously not that naiive since he's managed to survive here as long as he has in his condition.

That's really sad to hear that nowhere will allow him to stay because they're scared he's going to die on their property.

Oh, now you mention it I've seen this guy around Psaar Thmei - used to carry an oxygen bottle? Needed help stepping over things?

Yea thats him, last time I saw him several months ago he was carrying oxygen around with him, I think it might have been around st.172.

Poor guy, and in all seriousness, I hope the slappers have been keeping his visa up to date, or this might not be the only CEO topic he gets, God forbid.

To be fair I think they were pretty committed to his welfare - last time I saw him one was helping him use the ATM, and I hung back to make sure it was all on the up and up. Once the withdrawal was made, the cash and card were put in his wallet, and his wallet was put in his pocket. There seemed to be genuine care being given.

getting freelancers to look after him for the past 4 to 5 years? he might be happy that he got his life the way he wanted it to be for the last years of his life , determine by ourselves the way we live our last days.
