Beware of phone scammers calling from Saudi Arabia

The other morning I noticed two missed calls from the same Dominica number. It really was a WTF moment.

Its not particularly new, there were warnings issued months back. Numbers I see usually come from all over the pacific - Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu.

I don't call back my family if I miss their call, why would I call some random number.

I got a call from Chad, but I told him I was straight.

I received calls last week from Latvia and Dominica myself. Just hit the reject button, everyone that I know around the world knows I hate answering the phone. I only answer random Cambodian numbers now lol

LOL. I thought this was about the General drumming up some cash for the forum.

I've never had one of these calls, but get those random Cambodian hook-up calls from time to time. They hang up first.

I wonder how easy it is to get one of those premium rate numbers, plus of course the equipment and know how to call lots of random numbers.
How immoral is it to scam thousands of people for a couple of dollars each, discuss.

I think it's more annoying than immoral, but I never call back numbers I dont know. I figure they will call back if they want to reach me.
There's no threat or compulsion; you decide if you call back or not, and even then I cant even imagine what sort of cold call would keep me talking to someone I don't know for long enough to make a few bucks.
Minor scam IMO. Common sense is useful. ( Like thinking about how many people you know would be calling you from Saudi - or wherever.)

I got chad and ascension island.
Was a guy bin the Uk got so fed up with cold callers he got a premium rate number and used that whenever he was required to give a phone number. One of the cold calling companies took him to court i believe and lost. he was doing quite well out it, but only screwing the bloody firms that screw you
