What areas have natural beauty and a vibe tourist buzz?

Hi, I am considering coming to Cambodia with the intention of staying a while and opening a business there, either a restaurant or a small backpackers or resort. I would like to know what areas get enough tourism to make this idea viable? I want to be somewhere that is not too developed where there is still a lot of natural beauty and peace and quiet, not too hectic, but an area that is a just-popular-enough tourist destination to make enough money, preferably young and trendy with a bit of a vibe happening. Also Preferably a coastal area or an island would be ideal. I don't know Cambodia at all, just bouncing ideas around so any advice or suggestions about what areas to check out would be welcome.
Thanks a lot! =)

Cambodia is a small place and it is very difficult for foreigners to make a good profit from running a business here if you do it all legally with tax and business registration. The area with tourists are incredibly expensive to rent in and the up and coming places are not really near the level you could make a living off with. You really need to spend a couple of months travelling around

Best you come and check out the pharmacies first to see if the meds you are taking are available in Cambodia.

Hi Rain

Perhaps the best thing for you, or anyone else hoping to make a living off young and trendy tourists is to look a few years into the future, and identify the potential next happening spot. Now that established locations are changing/rumoured to soon be changing in a way that will people moving on to the next best thing, people are probably already thinking about this. It would mean a few expats and locals would have to set up somewhere and wait for the change.... build and they will come... eventually.

You don’t know the place at all but you want to open a business.
Seriously?

Hope you can speak Chinese.

^this, or for instance the twin crater lake in Ratanakiri, about 10 km South of Borkeo (Bar Kaev) town. You can still get cheap land there, but you will have minimal to zero facilities like (decent) roads, electricity, stuff like that. Also, don't forget you can not own land in your own name. Even though the Northeast is still pretty lax things there are tightening up a bit too.

But if you invest 50k now, you can make a decent profit in 20 years time if Cambodia remains stable.
