Bored?

Now, I know this might sound a little strange but I am considering moving out to Asia, at the end of 2014. A whole life style change, leaving my hamster wheel behind and taking a more relaxed 'Me' attitude to life.

I have asked many question both here and on other forums and had some great advice.

I have now narrowed my initial destination down to four locations: Siem Reap, Chiang Mai, Da Nang and Ipoh, with Cambodia looking the front runner. I have visited Cambodia twice, for a couple of months at a time and loved the place.

What do you do to stop getting bored? I know it sounds a strange question but what 'Other' activities do you fill your time with ?

What other activities relieve your boredom now?

As money goes further in Asia I believe you'll have more options to overcome boredom. Not less

Yes, but things like golf are much more expensive there, Siem Reap green fees top $100

I was more just wondering what other activities people do or is leisure time - beer time ?

Don't get me wrong, I do love a beer but I am just curious what else is available

I've found if people aren't able to function normally, have interesting lives, do meaningful (to them) work, have successful relationships, engage in hobbies or interests etc in their own country, their future destination will not be some lifestyle panacea for them.

If all else fails do what the rest of us did - addictions, addictions, addictions....

Are you a Chiang Mai person or a Khao San Road kind of dude? For good weed, seeing naked Australians or the American way of ''gun should be legalized'.' I recommend Sihanouke Ville.

I have visited each of them and I am deffo a Chiang Mai/Siem Reap type. Sihanouke Ville was not for me , although I met some nice people there.

Blow jobs are a good healthy hobby. Receiving them I mean.

Brother, if you get bored then you are simply a boring person in the end. You can always find things to keep your mind and body active where ever you are. PP has all one could want - if they take advantage of the potential here. If you're a substance addict then this entire region aint that good of an idea. Then again where is a good place for an addict really? Rehab?

There are gyms & pools aplenty here, there are many cultural activities, with a kindle a massive supply of books are available, there are a many side trips and nearby places to visit, opportunities to volunteer if so inclined, etc., etc.

In short, personally speaking, it is what is inside your brain which determines "boredom" not the place. Really. Especially if you have dosh & don't have to work this is a great place to live...and die in style. As in the soft sweet loving arms of a female native...

Ipoh should not even be on the list, Penang would be a better choice

Chaing Mai offers more than the others but the visa situation deteriorates in Thailand for long term stayers ( unless your over 50)

If i was to move back to Cambodia was thinking of SR as;
varied places to live, large expat community, western goods and food available,

No idea about Da Nang.
But so many questions.
Do you need to work being the front runner

I doubt there is a definite answer to your inquiry. The typical answer as usual is find some hobbies. But in a small town like Siem Reap, if you want to live a primitive life,...haha, I mean hang out and mingle with the locals; you gotta assimilate, hard to escape from boozing. Have your own own space, read, troll online, posting a bowl of spicy fried noodle on Facebook and having a companion nagging every morning on what the f*** you been up to last night...and by that time having rice with no fish sauce and chopped fresh chilli on top will make you feel like the meal is incomplete.
