Big Increase in Numbers of Beer Gardens in Phnom Penh

People of all ages started from youngsters to elders mostly gathered round at the beer garden to settle their discussion on business and friendship. Noticeably, numerous restaurants, food stalls and beer gardens have been growing along the Main Streets of Phnom Penh offering people varieties of choices of food. Most shops eventually have customers everyday whether it is the holiday or rainy days.
According to Emerging Market Consulting, there were two main factors causing this fast growth:
- Youngsters now often eat out rather than cooking at home
- Run same business focusing on food and alcohol drinks due to lack of education
People who tend to eat out much were the one who earned less than $800 and the one who earned more would consider to be healthier by eating at home.
The food safety in Phnom Penh was still below standard and hard to control.
