Low-Cost Locations: Where Expat Incomes Go Further
Destinations with lower living costs help expats to balance their books, while countries with weak economies tend to lead to high levels of dissatisfaction as expats struggle to get by.
#1 Vietnam has climbed from fifth place to take the top spot in 2017.

Wut, Spain is cheaper than Cambodia?
They must be using some different type of metric that does not involve long term GH living at $9 at night.

Some of those "cheap" countries - like Romania - require warm clothing and home heating for several months of the year

The trouble with retiring in Vietnam is the visa 'thing'. From what I understand, you have to leave the country every three months, get a new visa and come back.

I have no idea how they measure that but I am currently in Ha Noi and find it considerably more expensive than Cambodia, especially when buying things like cheese or cold cuts or going out to eat.

This is no longer true as of...yesterday. A business visa for 1 yr. can be obtained with multiple exit/entry & not forced to leave at all. Actually less $ than Cambo's visa.

Not necessary. Go to the site & open a chat dialogue. Fiona explained all to me very well.
Key phrase;
Except for businessmen from Visa Waiver Countries, all foreigners must apply for a business visa to do business or explore business opportunities in Vietnam.

Who do Yanks pay $189 and most other barang pay $399 for a 1 year visa?
Are they scared they will come and bomb the fuck out the place and drop some Agent Orange again?

At least the Chinks pay more. That'll keep them out for sure.

PS Is Fiona hot or a robot?

In addition Cambodians pay $399 + $135 stamping fee.

Do don't know if Fiona is hot or not. Feel free to inquire directly. Definitely not a bot. Knows her biz.
