Predicting an increase in Crimes

This might be obvious to some of you, but it is worth sharing. The continuous rise of inflation, high cost of living combined with stagnant salaries expect to see more crimes in the near future.
I have seen 3 petty crimes committed (out of hunger) in the last 7 days alone. In term of inflation, according to my calculation price of food at the local markets in my neck of the wood has increased at least by 15% and as high as 50% in the last 9 months.
In my case, we are very frugal in what we spend daily but we always ended up spending at least 30,000 riel foods alone, and I only eat once a day, twice at most.
