News on Otres

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

News on Otres

Post by bucknaked »

Hi
Happy to have found this web site
I happened upon Snookie a few years back with my family and have since been fortunate enough to have returned on 2 other occasions with a good friend
hoping to clock up visit no.4 this December with him

Sounds like a cliché but I instantly felt a real connection to Sihanoukville especially Otres I and II
Such an amazing friendly chilled place, I can see myself ending up living there....one day

Is there any update with the beach cleanups the government are threatening to do? reclaiming the beach front and removing all the huts and bars?

looking forward to chatting with some of you and discovering things about the area I didn't know

Cheers Terry

I think Jack Ma from Alibaba is buying Otres Beach:

The price of development. Sihanoukville will loose its appeal to western visitors, it is not Cambodia anymore.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Jack Ma, you might be able to buy Otres, but you'll never be able to enter The Last Hippie Standing Bar.

^ Your right there. Because when Jack Ma buys the land, Last hippie standing bar will be rubble.

No it won't. It will loose its appeal to some visitors yes, but same time attract whole new segment of potential visitors.

I wonder if a Jack Ma know the difference between lose and loose. It must be the most common spelling mistake in English.

About as common as using plural verbs instead of singular and including superfluous articles.
