??? :stir:
CityNews – Farmers are leaving their pineapples to rot in their fields as the price of pineapples has crashed from 12 baht to as low as 2 baht per kilo due to a supply-demand imbalance.
In February this year, the cost of pineapples in the northeast of Thailand fell to 4 baht per kilo when compared to 12 baht in February 2016.

On June 21 this year, farmers in Chiang Mai, Lampang and Kamphaeng Pet were also reporting a crash in price, forcing them to sell their product on the roadside for as little as 2 baht per kilo up to 20 baht per kilo depending on size and quality of the fruit.

If you come visit Richard, fill your car with assorted fruit :) But on a serious note, I used to do this in Cambodia, traveling up north to sell. Did OK too.

$6...WTF! Anyone who purchases local fruit and veg from lucky or any other supermarket is a fool, way overpriced and usually inferior quality to what is available in the local markets.

Fresh Pineapples are usually 1000 - 2000 Riel (sometimes more depending on size) in local markets, they'll even peel it and/or cut it up for you if you want to eat it right away at no extra cost.

This. Blatant rip-off by Lucky. I do not know the one in PP, but the one in Temple Town has its uses for hard-to-source items but you'd have to be a fool to buy any local produce there.

coconut prices are up globally due to the demand for the oil.
i blame the soap dodgers for drinking them green
now they hear the price of pineapples is low they will flock from australia and probably crash the industry there due to lack of pineapple consumers, which will in turn lead to an influx of unemployed pineapple pickers.
