Where's Pancake? The tail of Koh Rong's vanishing dog
Warning: Graphic photos.
A Koh Rong dog called Pancake, much beloved by expat residents, used to be one of several happy spoilt dogs belonging to Coco Boutique Resort.
That is, until last week when reports emerged that the dog had gone missing, perhaps been taken off the island. A rumour went around that Pancake had come to a nasty end, and there were concerned inquiries on the Koh Rong social media page.
Unfortunately, these concerns for Pancake turned out to be well-founded.
Some helpful person then posted some photos of Pancake stew.
After that there was a lot of sad and angry posts by the Koh Rong expat community on social media. Many were angry with the owners of Coco Resort for allowing the unthinkable to happen: Pancake had not been dog-napped by local villagers, but been cooked by the staff at the resort.
The owner of Coco Resort, who wanted to get rid of Pancake, has apologized profusely for the misunderstanding.
There is no moral to this story, unless it's that it's bad luck to call a dog Pancake.

Fucking cocksuckers. Sorry for the language administrators. A drunk tuk-tuk driver ran over my puppy and then my neighbor ate it. He offered me some. It was actually his, but the puppy left him to live with me because I fed him better. I can relate. Assholes.

So, a dog was in the road and was hit by a vehicle. Most would blame the dog for its own misfortune in this situation. Then, instead of wasting the dead animal, someone decided to eat it. There is no villain in this story.

This is some stereotypically-Cambodian bullshit.

I cant believe that there is a resort with buildings that look like that. Times have certainly changed. Why not eat the fucking dog, its name was pancake.

This is so "Rong" in so many ways.
Sadly, neutured dogs are often targetted for eating if not sheltered properly. Fatter, easier to capture ...
So, the staff hated the owner or something?

Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?
Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Re: Where's Pancake? The tail of Koh Rong's vanishing dog
The story seems to imply that the owner no longer wanted the dogs. Is it likely that he said "Get rid of that pancake" and on turning to each other the staff decided to give him a warrior's funeral and wore his fur like a hat? Do not be surprised when in a country that eats dog they eat the damn dog. Looks like they had a little going away party, too, judging by the selfies. It was Pancake Day.SmartAston Martin wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2017 7:11 pm This is so "Rong" in so many ways.

That's how I read it as well. As noted by someone in the thread, some dogs got dumped on the other island... but if the aim is to reduce dog numbers, it makes less sense to dispense of neutered/spayed dogs rather than the ones that will keep breeding.cptrelentless wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2017 8:08 pmThe story seems to imply that the owner no longer wanted the dogs.
