Any info on today’s announcement?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Any info on today’s announcement?

Post by newkidontheblock »

Missus says there were major announcements today in travel and money.

Travel.

All travelers required to have a medical check up before departing for Cambodia. No mention of needing health insurance or needing a test before travel. If any traveller looks sick on arrival, they will be tested. Any positive test will condemn the entire flight to government quarantine. Passengers that can pay have their choice of luxury hotels and good food to stay at. Those that can’t will stay in a square room (empty room), with nothing. After 14 days, all will be retested.

Khmer do not need medical check up or insurance. Those who test positive will get the square room as well.

Money.

Dollar bills, five dollar bills, will be collected by the local banks and went back to the US treasury. One dollar bills and five dollar bills will no longer be accepted as legal tender in the Kingdom or Wonder. Ten dollar bills and up can still be used. Missus mentioned something as attempt to shore up the Riel or conversion to the Yuan (or Remibi).

Anyone with better halves can confirm all this?

Bit late to the party. It is nonsense rumor from a rogue FB post.

Do you actually read any of rest of the forum here before you post NKOTB ?
I think most of your questions have already been answered somewhere. Have been discussed at length anyhow.

I was just about to say the same thing as posters above...

@NKOTB ... everything you mentioned has been discussed in depth on other threads especially the the travel related stuff which is nothing new at all. Seems Birdy is prone to believing the local rumour mill regarding the money issue which, due to Chinese whispers, has been misinterpreted by most locals.
