Another MALAYSIA AIRLINES Plane Comes Crashing (shot) Down

Post by General Mackevili »

It was shot down.....by the Russians...

A passenger jet has crashed in eastern Ukraine in an area where separatist rebels have been engaging Ukrainian army forces in recent weeks.

The Malaysia Airlines plane, travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, apparently had 295 people on board and crashed near the town of Snizhne, according to a report from Interfax news agency which could not immediately be confirmed.

The airline's official Twitter account said: "Malaysia Airlines said has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. More details to follow."

A source in the Russian aviation industry told Reuters that the plane did not enter Russian airspace when expected and had crashed in eastern Ukraine.

The Ukrainian air force has had planes shot down by rebels in the same region by rebels over the last week. Earlier on Thursday, Ukraine accused Russia of downing one of its fighter jets inside Ukrainian territory.

An adviser to Ukraine's interior minister said.....

This is seriously tragic and outrageous...
May the passengers and crew rest in peace.

I bet there will be a lot of speculation about whether it was truly shot down until the data is analyzed. A very great shame for the families, and clearly a loss the company will struggle to recover from. What a terrible tragedy.

Truly horrific incident, just awful for the people affected.. The most likely circumstances are quite difficult to comprehend, the Russians and Ukranians already blaming each other. Just ordinary people going on holiday or whatever blown out the sky by a surface to air missile. This apparently is the main flight path from Europe to Asia, which is now being changed to avoid Eastern Ukraine. Mainly Dutch but a high number of Australians, 29 I think, and as expected a mix of European nationalities and others.

This is just fucked. When does it get to the point where the innocent common man gets fed up with being pawns in the geopolitical games of others? At what point in our evolution does compassion, understanding and generosity become the driving force of nations instead of war, greed and conquest?

The human race repeatedly and continually disappoints me.

MA doesnt exactly have a good history in this business. Back in the early 2000 it tried to compete with Singapore Airlines and failed miserably; the Malaysia govt had to bail them and switched to being a budget Airlines. Their services wasnt that great either, a lot of unexpected changes (delays). Then the recent incident the mysterious disappearance of one of their Boeings , the most expensive search in the aviation history costing more than $100 million; and now this.

Truly a tragedy! My thoughts go out to all those families affected by this. May all those people that perished rest in peace!

"Both sides in Ukraine's civil conflict have accused the other of shooting it down with a missile.

The Boeing 777, with the call sign MH17, was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

It is the second disaster suffered by Malaysia Airlines this year. Flight MH370 disappeared en route from Malaysia to China in March and has still not been found.

In a statement, Malaysia Airlines said MH17 was carrying at least 154 Dutch nationals, 27 Australians, 43 Malaysians (including 15 crew), 12 Indonesians and nine Britons.

Other passengers came from Germany, Belgium, the Philippines and Canada, with the nationalities of 41 people not yet confirmed."

There aren't too many missiles that can go to 33,000ft and according the "Janes" the authority on weapons/weapons systems, only Russia and the Ukraine in the area have ones that can hit that high, shoulder fired one's only go to 10,000ft. A missile fired from another airplane is a whole other story. The Russians have a history of shooting down unarmed passenger aircraft such as the Korean 747 a number of years ago.
