Why don't Europeans like spoons?

Here's a question that I often lie awake and ponder.

I understand that a knife is handy for dealing with cuts of meat and the spreading of various condiments, and that they use spoons when eating soup, ice cream and breakfast cereals.

But why would you limit yourself to using only a fork and knife when eating things like lasagna, salad, mashed potatoes, burritos, mushy peas, pancakes, etc. that are readily scooped up? :unknown:

Obviously the OP has never seen rice, as that would be the first item of food in KH that an intelligent obserber would remark upon

It's called having table manners, and none of those items should ever be eaten with a spoon. It drives me nuts sometimes when I order food in semi-decent restaurants here and they give me a fork and a spoon. You eat dinner with a knife and fork, not a spoon and fork.
It doesn't really matter if you are alone eating some mushy mess, but I would be pretty much disgusted if I was forced to sit at the same table as someone who scooped up food with a spoon into their gob, that's just eating like a pig. %)

What drivel! Likewise, most locals would be disgusted with your habits from the hinterlands. All items that can be eaten with afork should be eaten with chop sticks if available, why would you put a four pronged metal object in your mouth!?

I often lie awake at night and ponder,,, why do people lie awake and ponder about spoons, when they should be thankful that they have fingers that are supposed to do the job. Well that is until someone invented a new technology called spoons.
