Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
I'm looking for information about flights from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap from people who have flown the route.
Must be afternoon or early evening flight from Phnom Penh and mid afernoon coming back.
Which airlines should I look at? I'm sure some are far better than others, oh and I like jets, not turboprops.
I don't care about the price or airport transfers at either end, I'm just not sitting in a car, bus, limo, whatever for all that distance when I can fly there.
Want to go for a few days in May some time to check it out with a view to moving there, so once I get there I will need to move fast.
My needs are few but quite specific. Literally all I care about is the availability of decent western food, good internet, quietness during the day inside the apartment, house or whatever - no stairs to climb. Would want a 2 bed apartment with a nice sized kitchen and a proper working air conditioner in whichever of the bedrooms I sleep in - talking 18k BTU here.
I don't care much for the nightlife or anything else, will spend most of the time inside.
Anyone got any thoughts?

Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
That's a route I would certainly never fly myself, but at least you'll do that while Phnom Penh's old airport is still operating, with the new one it will become outright nonsensical.
Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
The new airport is at 45 kilometers of the city, it will take more time to get to Siem Reap than the flight from Phnom-Penh.
Boredom is like a shroud
Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
Just how many airlines do you think fly the route? Answer is two and one of those is currently not daily. The latest departure any day is 1.30pm on a crappy ATR75. As for the "any thoughts" question at the end of your post... Go live somewhere other than Cambodia, you won't be happy here

Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
Well I'm already half living in Phnom Penh, spent 6 months here last year and been back here for about 3 weeks this year.
Figured Siam Reap might be a better suit for me as it's a bit noisy here in the big city (Phnom Penh) - the other half of the year I live in a quiet spot in Thailand and I can tell you I noticed the difference between Phnom Penh and where I live in Thailand which is so peaceful - I sleep odd hours during the morning and instead of constant construction noise it's just quiet in Thailand.

Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
I do occasionally hop on over to Bangkok for a long weekend so I might catch a one way flight back into Siem Reap the next time I do that
I could find one early evening flight from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh - two separate airlines - same time, same plane, probably a code share. Clear as mud though.

My honest thoughts:
And thats being kind about it.How is this poster smart enough to get to Phnom Penh and navigate this forum online but not able to search the very basics of internet information??!

It doesn't really make sense to fly these days. The road to Siem Reap is much better than before, and the new airport is in such a location the trip to- and from the airport will take you more than one uncomfortable hour. Add to that a poor selection of flights and high prices per flown kilometer, at least 50$ one way without luggage.traveller001 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 6:56 pm I'm looking for information about flights from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap from people who have flown the route.

Better fly from Bangkok if you insist on flying and skip Phnom Penh, or take a bus. Vireak Buntham has an 'Air bus' with relatively spacious seating for a fraction of the price without losing much time compared to a flight.

Just travelled with Giant Ibis from Phnom Penh to Kampot and back again. The same bus from Kampot that arrives in Phnom Penh at lunch time goes on to Siem Reap. It's a much better bus company than Vireak Buntham have to say having travelled on both. I think from memory it's the first bus company in the Mekong countries I've experienced that not only do they have working seat belts they actually tell you to use them.

Re: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flights
Maybe you did, maybe you did not ride the 'air bus'. It's a 36 seater bus, as opposed to most others being 48 seaters. They used to ride this kind of bus to Sihanoukville only at first but are now expanding to other cities, including Siem Reap. I have never driven them myself, but 36 instead of 48 sounds good to me. The drivers look a bit silly, pilot style clothing including hat including an 'onboard hostess', but the seat pitch should be larger than the standard.Bill Shakey wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 7:19 am
