proving im retired?

Post by grumpygit »

im sorry if this is covered somewhere else but all my searches turn up are people trying to turn a retirement visa into a work visa.

short story shorter

was going to retire in thailand, but given the shit show that is going on there with bank accounts and visas i figured cambodia would be just fine.

im 58 i have a big saving stash but i dont see how i can prove im retired as i cant claim uk pension for another 9 years..

any help or a link to where this is covered greatly appreciated.

I am here on a retirement visa. No supporting paperwork required after 55 if I recall correctly.

Our resident Kiwi expert will tend to you soon, but here it is basically age related. Just be aware that once you are on a retirement visa it is not theoretically possible to go back to a visa that allows you to work

NO:
fly into Cambodia, ask for an “ordinary” visas (E class) on arrival, pay $35
Than go to any agent ( call kim, cina travel in PP) and request a 1 year extension, ( $285-300) based on being over 55 and thats it

I find using an agent in Thailand for my 1 year extension hassle free an as the costs in Cambodia for most things is higher, even thou my extension cost more for Thailand , in the long run..... its cheaper to live here.

up to you

‘im 58 i have a big saving stash but’

We don’t mind how much money you have and the Cambodians don’t care.

sorry richard your last sentence has confused me a bit.
DONT get a visa for cambodia in thailand? ok after re reading it a few times i seem to remember HERE for you means phuket.

i would prefer the thai retirement visa, but the constant changing of rules is a worry for me.

set up in thailand, park a huge wedge of cash in a bank account that, may or may not have been closed in my absence. and get no interest on it. and then if i leave to visit another country for a break, its possible to get refused entry back into thailand for some reason or other based on if the the person on the immigration desk feels like fucking with me cos hes just had an argument with his mrs...meanwhile all my stuff is in thailand.

Don't pay any attention to the dude from thailand. Going to e Visa application for cambodia, ask for an ordinary visa, fly in go find an agent give her your passport pay her and tell your retired.

Easy peasy, and none of the tie bullshit. Then you can go back and forth as you please
