Renewing visa in advance of expiration date?
Renewing visa in advance of expiration date?
Is it still possible to renew a retirement visa up to 30 days before it is due to expire (at the Immigration office across from the airport in Phnom Penh)? Anyone know? Not interested in using an agent by the way...

Yes, you can only apply for an Extension of Stay within 1 month/30 days of the expiry date of your current Visa/EOS, not before. And yes, directly at the DoI Visa Office.

Just out of interest, if you renew your EOS - ER visa through the Immigration office directly, what paperwork are you required to bring aside from the obvious passport and passport photo, and you're over 55?

Nothing else but it will not hurt to take proof of income/retirement.Bill Shakey wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 6:30 am Just out of interest, if you renew your EOS - ER visa through the Immigration office directly, what paperwork are you required to bring aside from the obvious passport and passport photo, and you're over 55?

That would mean there's no reason to agents anymore.

Ask @Bill Shakey. Some can't get enough of visiting the lovely compound the DoI is situated in. There even is (used to be?) a coffee shop on the premises.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:11 amOk,Kammekor wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:52 amHighly unlikely.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:19 amNothing else but it will not hurt to take proof of income/retirement.Bill Shakey wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 6:30 am Just out of interest, if you renew your EOS - ER visa through the Immigration office directly, what paperwork are you required to bring aside from the obvious passport and passport photo, and you're over 55?

As for me personally, I'm not that happy with your reply. There's no way my embassy would provide me with a letter proving I'm retired. They will tell me it's not their job, and they're probably right. So off to the agent for me when i turn 55.

Congrats.
What have a christmas tree and a 60yo got in common?
They are both made of old wood and have balls just for show.

You need to provide
- official proof of your retirement/pension status
- show that you have sufficient funds/income for the duration of your stay
- Certificate of Residence from registered Sangkat and/or copy of registered lease
- 2x passport pics
- be checked in on the FPCS by the owner of the property you reside in
- $180 for a 12 month ER EOS
- processing time usually 14-21 business days, you need to go back to collect so make sure you keep the receipt, or for extra fee they can arrange delivery
Supporting documentation criteria will vary depending on which Immigration Officer is on duty at the desk at the time you apply, some are very strict, for example. insist that your proof of retirement is certified by your Embassy, or that you need a letter from your Embassy. However some are more lenient...it's hit n miss.
