Hi all,

New to the forum, I've been in Thailand since February and am looking to relocate to Cambodia specifically Phnom Penh, so I have a few questions I hope can be answered here...

1. Is it possible as an Australian Citizen to extend a 30 day (e) tourist visa for up to a 3 month stay in the country?
2. Is obtaining this type of visa extension a relatively easy process by visiting a local immigration office, or am i destined for visa runs to the borders?
3. Short term rentals - do real estate agents such as 'beyond realty' in PP facilitate 3 month rentals of a serviced condo?
4. What is a good area in PP within walking distance of good local restaurants and a few quiet bars?

Tourist visas are valid for 30 days and can only be extended once for 30 more days.

1. As JB said, no.You need to get an ordinary visa on arrival.
2. Yes, by visiting an agent such as CINA Travel on st 130. If you are 55+ you get an ER extension, 3, 6 or 12 months. If under 55, it can be done but idk the details.
3. No they don't as no commission for them. You can try Seasons Residence on st 144. Or start at a hotel and look around. For rent signs abound. It's a buyer's market.
4. If you start your stay at the Ohana near Riverside, you may find that area suits you. Or you can try BKK1 area. Only the Riverside area has hostess bars.

BUT
on arrival apply for the ordinary visa ( $35)
Than go to an agent and request an EG extension ( valid for 1, 3, 6 months) " looking for work"
the 6 month one is multi entry

If you enter the country on a T-type (Tourist) Visa or an e-Visa (electronic online Tourist Visa) you can apply for a one time only 30 day Extension of Stay, giving you a total period of stay of up to 2 months before needing to leave the country. Not valid for multiple entry.

Here is a basic summary for those wishing to stay long term, work, retire, study, etc...

1. Enter the country on an E-type (Ordinary) Visa, $35 on arrival, valid for 1 month (not to be confused with the e-Visa).

2. Prior to your Visa expiry date, go to a Visa agency and apply for an Extension of Stay (EOS). There are different EOS categories available;

- EB (Business/Employment) EOS - 1,3,6,12 month options, can be renewed indefinitely
- ER (Retirement) EOS - 1,3,6,12 month options, can be renewed indefinitely
- ES (Student) EOS - 1,3,6,12 month options, can be renewed indefinitely
- EG (General - seeking employment/business opportunities) - 1,3,6 month options - 1 time deal, cannot be renewed in-country

Only 6 & 12 month options valid for multi-entry/exit.

Each EOS category has it's own supporting documentation requirements, but minimum requirements for all are;

- Valid passport with minimum 6 months validity remaining from the date the EOS will expire ie. If applying for 12 mth EOS, you need at least 18 months validity remaining on your passport
- Minimum 2x blank Visa pages in passport
- 1x Passport pic
- Completed EOS application form (most agents will complete on your behalf)
- FPCS details screenshot

Costs if applying via a Visa agency (price depends on agency and location);
- 1 mth EOS = $45 - 55
- 3 mth EOS = $70 - 90
- 6 mth EOS = $150 - 170
- 12 mth EOS = $270 - 300

You also can apply directly at the DoI Visa Office in Pochentong, Phnom Penh, if you have all of the necessary supporting documentation, which they are very strict about. Official fee for a 12 month EOS applying directly is $180.

No but it's easy and cheap to leave the country after 60 days and then return and re-start the 60 day clock
