Hello from Beijing,

I am planning to relocate to Cambodia from China in December.

I was informed by the Cambodian Embassy here that I need a Letter of Invitation from a local Khmer company before I can enter the country.

I have made a number of inquires online to no avail.

Can anyone suggest if there are companies or agents who do this?

Many thanks in advance.

You can get a Tourist visa now, it's good for 30 days and can be extended for a further 30 days without leaving the country. If you like the place and want to stay you can then apply for a longer term visa, which may require leaving (or may not) Cross that bridge when you come to it.

Visa rules are in a state of flux at the moment but are moving to a more liberal regime. Be patient. You may well be able to get in without quarantine in a couple of months, it is currently 7 days (if fully vaccinated).

Here's the official website for an e-visa.

I doubt they will start allowing changes from T to E. They were only doing that for people stranded since the start of Covid. After two months on a T visa now he'll have to leave. Better to obtain an E visa.

Yep, Visa policies and procedures are returning to normal, the conversion from a T-type to an E-type was only for those "stranded" here on an expired Tourist Visa.

Once VOA's are reintroduced and land borders open then it will be possible to change Visa types by conducting a Visa run, either personally, or via a Visa Agent who will send the passport via taxi to get stamped out and an E-type VOA issued (risky, illegal, but commonly acceptable practice).

I'd advise the OP to be patient, I don't think it will be much longer before VOA's are reintroduced.

Yeah I was saying the same to a friend wanting to return from the UK, just a couple of hours ago.

Yeah there are a lot of people who have been trying to get back here for ages who are desperate and are just gonna come in on an e-Visa or T-type Visa, even though they plan to stay long term, can't blame them though, especially the ones who haven't seen their partners and/or kids for over 18 months.

Also, wait a couple of weeks and you may not have to face the expense and inconvenience of even one week's hotel quarantine.

I'd wait a little longer, but I'm a renowned tightarse.

What are they going to do after two months?

@mannanman, no idea, but I predict that there will be further easing or suspension of the current requirements & restrictions by then anyway...if not, I'm sure agents would have worked out a new way to convert Visa types by then ;)
