Are there more mosquitos in PP now than usual?

Post by Sweet Lemon »

I never had a mosquito problem in my apartment but now I do and I don’t know how they are getting in. And out at bars and restaurants too. Is this normal for rainy season or is it worse now?

I am not in Phnom Penh, but where I am there are a lot of mosquitoes.

They put on a fake display of dealing with the issue. Recently they drove through town spraying people with insecticide. But they do nothing to address the real issue.

I suggest they encourage people to put in real showers, like they have in many parts of the world. Then encourage people to stop storing water in anything with an open top, where mosquitoes breed.

Do you suggest draining the irrigated rice paddies too?

I thought there were less mosquitoes around since they have filled in Boeng Kak Lake, so I think you may be onto something there taa. Maybe fill in the Tonle Sap next and the problem will be solved.

Yeah and while we're at it the govt. could make growing water lilies punishable by death. Enough of these "fake displays" I say.

There is a lot of stagnant water around due to all of the construction, perfect breeding grounds for mozzies.

Theres been a massive rise in dengue cases this year, people need to be educated about mitigation measures.
