(Another) visa question

I will be arriving in Cambodia by air on a Thursday and will be leaving a few days later on Sunday for a short visit to Vietnam. I will then be returning to Cambodia by land and plan to stay long-term to look for work (but want multiple entry).
What kind of visa should I get when I first arrive? When I return to look for work?
My concern is that if I enter initially on a tourist visa, I won't later qualify for an ordinary e visa on my second visit (from what I've read). If I enter initially on an ordinary E class visa, I won't have time to apply for an EG visa.
Can anyone confirm or suggest the best way to go about this?

1st entry ; regular tourist visa $30
2nd entry; Ordinary visa $35 ..which can be extended to a 6 month EG extension..looking for work
or if ur lucky and get a job in 30 days a EB extension for 1 year

You wont get a multi entry visa when you enter.

If you want multiple entry, make sure you get the 6 Month extension, up to three months is single entry. Goes for EG (looking for work) and EB (business) ext.

As above, get a Tourist Visa first time, then an Ordinary Visa second time, and get a 6mo EG extension (EOS) on that while you look for work - it's multiple entry.

Is this a cyclic ‘mess with the foreigner’, or ‘its approaching KNY need more tea money’ thing?
I have a new E visa as my previous extension would expire part way through this visit.
I’ve just been to a previously recommended agent, to be told that I now need a reference letter for the 6month multi entry extension.
The reference letter would be from my employer. (I’m not employed here)
They are offering to provide the reference letter for $75. Clearly, the letter would be a fabrication demonstrating false employment; sounds crooked and risky in equal measure.
Before I head over to the DofI, is this the norm? The last extension was straight forward. This one effectively increases the cost by 50%.

As you don't work then you should be applying for the 6 month EG EOS, which requires no supporting documentation apart from a letter from you explaining why you require this extension, most agents will do this on your behalf for free, you just need to thumbprint it.
The reference letter from an employer is required for 6 and 12 mths EB EOS's.
Go.to.a different agent.

This is exactly what I had last time, through the same agent. I explained this to the same person that I dealt with last time, but she said this is ‘new procedure’. Maybe it’s the heat from the lack of cooling due blackouts that’s getting to her. I might try again later as AtoZ have been a popular recommendation up until now.
