a question about apartments
a question about apartments
How long does it take to rent an apartment? back home you would need to go view, see the estate agents, wait till all paper work goes through and then probably wait a couple weeks to get the keys. From what i have seen and read things work differently in PP and Cambodia in general.
So to set the situation, i arrive, hotel booked for a week, i have been in contact with a estate agent who are keen to meet the day after i arrive, i have a few i would like to view, if i like the apartment.. what happens next? how long would i need to wait to get the keys and move in?
I just don't want to leave my self in a situation where 1, i book a hotel too long and waste money or 2, don't book it long enough.
Any advice would be great! thanks.

Re: a question about apartments
I stay in guest houses. I never book in advance. I always wait until I get there. If I go to a new place where I have never been before, I normally only pay for one night to begin with. It is easy to pay for more nights later. If you pay for several nights and leave early, many places will not give you your money back.
It is very rare that places are fully booked out, and you cant get a room. If it does happen, there are normally other places you can stay.
If you take this approach, it does not matter how long it takes to get an apartment.

Re: a question about apartments
I stayed in PP April last year for about a month for a holiday doing the guest house thing, was great! Sorry i should have mentioned that.
Just trying to get some info on how long it takes to actually move into an apartment. Just so i know how things work and what to expect when i move across.
Cheers tho mate

Re: a question about apartments
I've not used a realestate I've just seen signs hanging outside apartments rang the number talked to owner moved in anytime as most apartments are empty when advertised

Re: a question about apartments
so basically as long as they have the cash you can get the keys?
guessing its a one month deposit and one month rent?
3 months is not an issue at all

Yep most will provide WiFi but you will have power and water bill to pay each month

Re: a question about apartments
I've always paid straight to the owner who will provide a lease agreement to sign no problem much the same as using realestate

Re: a question about apartments
Yeah ive had a look into it, $0.25 pkw or something along those lines anyways. Most people seem to be working it out as $50 pm for both, not sure how accurate that is but seems in the ball park.
Yeah they come round and collect the cash?

I could not do electric and internet on $50 per month but I like to have the a.c. on. Costs me about $125 and I am not around in weekends. Internet varies a lot but can be had cheaply
