Do you have insurance?

I know some people work for NGOs or large companies who provide insurance.

Many people having short holidays also have insurance.

It is also politically correct to say everybody should have insurance.

Those of you staying in a country other than your home country for a long time, who dont have insurance paid by an NGO or company, do you have insurance?

I have already mentioned in another post, I have made a choice to help students from poor families get an education. By not having insurance, I have money to help more students. There is a possibility that I may be in a difficult situation one day, and then maybe nothing like this will happen to me. You never know.

Yes, I have insurance.

It's very noble of you to 'sacrifice' for your students. However, as you say "you never know". I think you should ask yourself if your students will help you if you a suddenly and unexpectedly faced with a $500,000 medical bill.

But firstly you should explain to us '' stupid '' people how much you/we should pay for insurance , over a period of time in Cambodia , and what we could expect if
one had a accident or fell ill.
When I look at the costs of insurance for older persons and the costs of medical attention and the quality of it in Cambodia, I am firmly in favor of putting that money aside in a separate account to pay for whatever, when and where the situation arises.

My insurance gets paid by the company but even if that was not the case, I would pay for insurance. Any serious accident and the bill will quickly reach 5 or 6 figures. I knew a guy in Phan Thiet who thought paying for insurance was a waste of money. He did have enough money to go on the piss every night until he hit a coconut riding home drunk and broke his neck. His parents had to sell their house to pay for medical bills and repatriation and he will need medical attention for the rest of his life.

While this is true for the group of people with insurance as a whole, in individual cases you might end up having to spend more than you can afford in your case. And that sucks.
