Good/Reputable Visa lawyer for USA K-1 visa
Hello expats,
Ok, so how about a reference on a good and reputable visa lawyer/attorney firm to obtain a K-1 Visa for my lovely wife to visit crazy ol’ USA.
A lil bit o’ history:
We have been together over 3 years, married for 2 (by the Monks ceremony in her home) we are lucky to have an awesome 18 month old lil boy (he holds a U.S. passport) and my wife is due to deliver our beautiful lil girl next month (she will also receive a U.S. passport upon birth after a lil more paperwork). We live here in PP, have a new home in Kompong Cham but would like to visit family in USA and get “officially” married there! Thanks in advance for any and all help in this matter.

Make it easy on yourself and just go on a tourist visa and get married as long as you truly do intend on returning to Cambodia.
Me and my wife were in the same situation a couple years back but we went to just visit family. After we got there we figured we'd get a marriage certificate since we were both fed up with the process of getting a Cambodia one. Here's a site I just skimmed through that had some good info... www.visapro.com/resources/article/getti ... rist-visa/

You're either married or you're not married. If you're married, she's disqualified from getting the K-1 fiance visa. If you're not married, stop saying that you are, because if the embassy gets any whiff, correctly or incorrectly, that you are married, she can be denied the visa. If you're thinking of applying for a K-1 fiance visa, stop saying you were married by a monk's ceremony. Instead, you should say that you had an engagement ceremony.HarleyG wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 3:41 pm Hello expats,

My understanding is that it is very difficult for young Cambodian women to get tourist visas to the USA, especially when they have American boyfriends, due to the risk of overstaying.lostjeremy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 5:03 pm Make it easy on yourself and just go on a tourist visa and get married as long as you truly do intend on returning to Cambodia.

Ive always heard the same but me and my wife never had problems or rejections even before she was my wife.
Plus the OP has a new home Im assuming in her name that ties her back here and a 3 year history with her so I dont see him having much difficulty.

I'm not sure that his history with her helps her to get a tourist visa.
Of course, the K-1 visa is an immigrant visa for people intending to live in the USA after marriage.

Thank you for all the detailed, helpful input! Yes, we recently attempted to get her a tourist visa and they flat turned her down after only asking her a few questions. We were completely truthful on her appl. and she was sent away with the standard letter of denial. I suppose we will wait for baby girl to be born and make another attempt at a tourist visa as we only want to visit family/friends and then return to live in KOW.

I'm not sure that her having an American baby will make it any easier to get a tourist visa. What she needs is convincing proof that she will go back to Cambodia and isn't planning to marry in the USA and change status and immigrate through the "back door" that way and circumvent the K-1 vetting process and 8-10 month wait for a K-1 visa.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a bucket of shit?
