Khmer name for Candlenuts?
Khmer name for Candlenuts?
I'm going to start by saying that I haven't tried particularly hard to find them in the local markets yet, I have no doubt they're available as they are native to SEA, but last time I tried by showing a picture I ended being pointed towards Macadamia Nuts.
Does anyone know the Khmer name for Candlenuts?

Does anybody know the English name for them?
Kidding. Doesn't the Phnom Penh legend say that old lady Penh found the three buddhas in a floating candlenut tree? Maybe that might be an alternate route to the answer, ask locals what that tree is called in Khmer. Ah! Just asked Google, apparently it's a Koki tree, does that help?

Re: Khmer name for Candlenuts?
I never heard the English word before let alone the Khmer. It sounds like the answer to the question what do men get when they burn their candles at both ends?
Why candlenuts of course.

As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
