I've seen them take down an old house here, they did it piece by piece and carefully stacked it all up before hauling it away. They way they took it down nicely makes me assume there is some sort of salvage going on by the construction companies.

Your just a little bit too late unless you just want old bricks,,,, but I saw lots of nice timber and stuff come out of the Lyon De Or guesthouse and restaurant as it was being demolished. When was that place built ? [ two doors from Larry's ]

It's interesting to watch a old building [ Lyon d Or ] being demolished. Bricks in the walls seem to fall after just a few taps with a hammer and the mortar appears to have lost its
purpose years ago and now acts as a filler , instead of a bonding agent between other bricks. So was the mortar in those old buildings of second grade and how much of a earthquake would PP need to bring the whole city down. I think the one item that holds some of the old buildings together is the strength and thickness of the many layers of paint.

I think some demo timber gets repurposed as furniture. They pulled some massive 100yo+ floor joists from the building near my place they recently demolished.

When I was looking for old/second hand furniture (retro sort of stuff) I really couldn't find anything. Old louvred shutters would be cool for hiding your AC units, if that's what you're thinking. Might need to find a place in mid-demo to score them. Actually I'd be happy to hang them on the wall if they were faded and distressed.

Yeah I’m looking for old window shutters for the wall / to hide aircons - and possibly wood for a bench top / counter.
