Please forgive me for asking what may seem such a basic question. I am a thailand expat who has only been to cambodia 1 time.. im looking to rent an appartment within reasonable distance to the action of 136 and 130 for a period of 1 month. Can anyone tell me if short term rentals are common and if slo is there a website or agent you can recomend.

Many thanks

Try Lux. Street 136. http://www.luxriversidehotels.com

Many guesthouses will rent by the month. The Red Fox across the street from Lux will. Many others on street 172 between streets 19 and 13. Try to email or phone them for pricing, but negotiating in person is always better here. Agents will be a waste of time and/or money. There's also AirBnB, but beware of scams (King William George Jewsbury comes to mind).

there are facebook groups for this with a lot of places listed regularly

couple of hundred dollars can get a good sized apartment with AC, wifi, hot shower, kitchen & tv
add a bit more and access to pool too

3 month let is usually not too hard. 1 month will be difficult because the agent usually takes 1 months rent as commission. Probably cheaper to get a one month hotel room anywhere between $300 to $450 including electric but without cooking. i heard purple hotel on 51 almost next to heart of darkness was renting monhtly at under $300 a while ago. lots of cheap places between 154 and central market, about 4 roads of them

A hotel will change the sheets for you. A private rental landlord probably won't even provide sheets.

Walk down either if those streets when you arrive and pick a hotel.

A few AirBnB's coming online and your best bet for short term, as are the girls on 136 :beer3: . A friend was in town and rented a basic apartment off it for 6 weeks for just under $500. it was clean and recently done out nothing grand and a good location and private. Plenty of other options available through it depending on how much you want to pay.

Actually a couple hundred dollars gets you none of those things anywhere near Street 136 for a one month rental.

reasonable distance actually
$1 tuk tuk ride away is actually reasonable to me when you actually get a pool & quiet for the same rent actually

if you need to jump in actually correcting people that is

Chortles, meet Cam Nivag. Jumping in is his job here.

Couple hundred dollars will get you a tiny shop house flat accessed via a piss stained junkie squat stairwell. There may be still a water reservoir in the bathroom under the stairs, which you could pretend is a pool.

Probably looking at closer to $600 for even a studio apartment with pool within $1 of OPs desired slapper central. Unlikely to get a single month rental at those kind of places though.

Slapper friendly hotel or airbnb is the simplest, most logical choice for this guy's month long stay.
